Contract Manufacturing of Proteins Using Genetically Modified Silkworms

Silkworms are insects that have been domesticated over the course of thousands of years to produce silk. The cocoons that silkworms spin are made up of only two proteins, fibroin and sericin, and genetically modified silkworms are silkworms that have had genes introduced into them so that they can synthesize a target protein at the same time as these proteins.
Depending on the target protein, 0.5-3 mg of target protein can be obtained from one genetically modified silkworm.
In a sense, genetically modified silkworms are excellent biological factories.
Genetically modified silkworm production sevice
We create genetically modified silkworms that produce the recombinant protein desired by the customer, and deliver cocoons containing the target protein or their extracts. The genetically modified silkworms we create can be reared for successive generations and for mass production of proteins through our contract rearing service (optional).
Genetically modified silkworm breeding service
Production breeding We mass-breed genetically modified silkworms for protein production and deliver the cocoons produced.
Maintenance breeding
We undertake the subculture and maintenance (storage of dormant eggs for six months) of genetically modified silkworms produced by our company or those produced by the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization.
